To Explore the Delightful Tea Tasting Journey with RED TEA AT NOON

Recently, in celebration of International Tea Day, two tea industry experts from Sri Lanka were invited to participate in a tea ceremony organized by "RED TEA AT NOON" specially appointed tea master, Li Zhen. The Sri Lankan experts kindly and professionally exchanged ideas with the responsible person of "RED TEA AT NOON" exploring how to better introduce high-quality Sri Lankan red tea to the Chinese domestic market.

 

During the tea tasting, tea enthusiasts savored several types of Chinese red teas, including Lapsang souchong, Tanyang Kung Fu, Yingde No. 9, and Yunnan Old Tree Red Tea. Participants also tasted high-end Sri Lankan red tea such as OP and FBOP.

Lapsang souchong is a kind of famous Chinese red tea with exquisite production process and elegance in appearance, whose rich flavor and elegant aroma are matched with brilliant red soup and uniform red leaves, making it unique and collectible. During the tea tasting, participants could detect the unique pine-smoke flavor of Lapsang souchong and feel its rich layers and long-lasting taste.

 

Aside from Lapsang souchong, participants also sampled Tanyang Kung Fu, Yingde No. 9, and Yunnan Ancient Tree Red Tea, which are all Chinese red tea varieties with unique characteristics and flavors.

Throughout the tea tasting, the two Sri Lankan experts tasted and evaluated the Chinese red teas, and expressed their deepened understanding of the types and manufacturing processes of Chinese red tea. This has a positive promoting effect on tea trade cooperation between the two countries.

The two Sri Lankan tea experts also brought a variety of tea samples for participants to taste. Ceylon Tea is a type of tea grown in Sri Lanka's extensive mountainous regions, and its tea leaves have the characteristics of high altitude and pure quality. During the tea tasting, participants sampled several types of Ceylon Tea, among which the hand-crafted organic large leaf red tea had a monthly production of approximately 20 kilograms, relying mainly on hand-crafted kneading. Its rich flavor, refreshing taste, and fragrant aroma make it a favorite among tea enthusiasts.

In comparison to Ceylon Tea, red tea in China uses more plucking methods with tea buds, and different grades can affect the quality of the final tea. Ceylon Tea is graded based on international export standards, determined by altitude to ensure the stability of industrialized mass production. In contrast, Chinese Kung Fu red tea presents a rich tea soup with a floral, fruity, and honey-like aftertaste, and small tea buds have a high endurance for steeping. Due to its complex manufacturing process, producing high-quality red tea requires a lot of time and procedures.
